Event marketing
is defined as the new way of marketing products and services (Eckstein, 2002). The concept of event marketing is one of the
critical aspects (Latrobe, 2008). This is true according to the student, looking
at the fact that the event planner will need as many as possible people to come
to the event. During the event planning process there has to be maximum consideration
to the most effective way of advertising the event (Latrobe, 2008). This was
applicable during the fun day event preparations as there was the use of pamphlets
as a means of advertising and marketing the event.
Promotion can also be done through the use of
word of mouth to build the excitement with the student and communicating to the
community as a whole (Anonymous, 2011). This was done during the event
preparations because the hospitality student were always tell their fellows
about the fun day event, and issues such as the location, time and the
description of the event, including the types of menus and the activities to be
performed. Event marketing is done purposely as a way of sending a message to
the people as a whole (Eckstein, 2002).
